Mission
To promote professional growth and community awareness in the field of communication disorders
The Houston Association for Communication Disorders, HACD, began as a journal group in 1971. Through the years, HACD has grown to over 300 members and has expanded its services. For its members, HACD provides quality workshops, monthly meeting presentations, job listings, and a voice in influencing legislation of benefit to our clients and profession. Through the combined efforts of many members, public awareness of communication disorders is growing in the Houston community.
Purpose
To encourage continued education and professional growth among its members with reference to speech, hearing and language disorders;
To stimulate exchange of information among persons in this organization as well as between members of this organization and paramedical, medical and educational organizations;
To serve as a representative voice of the membership to the state level;
To promote the field of communication disorders by disseminating information to the public and to related professional groups.
Goals
Provide members with current professional information
Provide awareness of ethics and public policy issues to the membership of HACD
Facilitate networking with other professionals and provide information to the general public
Utilize technology to benefit the membership
Maintain financial accountability within the HACD organization
